Sarawak

Recently I am just coming back from Sibu, my hometown which is located in Sarawak. Maybe you don't really know Sarawak but that will be something I will be talking about
Back to my recent trip.. While back in Sarawak, I made 2 trips to Kuching and I discovered that actually, my hometown Sarawak is a great place and pretty especially you look at it up high there!

The Iban Longhouse

Ok! I am going to talk some about my sweet and lovely hometown Sarawak !
Sarawak, is the largest state of Malaysia and it known as Land of Hornbills aka Bumi Kenyalang too and it's on the Borneo Island together with the 2nd largest state Sabah! Well, there's some of them thinks that Sarawakian are living on the tree just because that Sarawak is famous with the tropical rain forest and that made some of them thinks that we live on the tree.. Still remember that, I was asked if we are living on the tree and guess what I answered ? I told them that, yea we are living on the tree and helicopter is using as transport and we swing around like a monkey !

I found that my hometown is still full with the forest although the timber work had been active for quite a long time period.. and the river there are so nice which made up a nice picture.. Quite often there's crop circle in some farm but there's natural circle in Sarawak and all of that are made up with the river crossover the forest ! Honestly I wish to describe the beauty of Sarawak but my limited english writing skill is terrible and not able to describe it nicely.

Briefly describe Sarawak , Sarawak has more than 40 sub-ethic groups, each with its own distinct language, culture and lifestyle. Cities and larger towns are populated predominantly by Malays, Melanau and Chinese , and a smaller percentage of Ibans and Bidayuhs who have migrated from their home-villages for employment reasons. Sarawak is distinctive from the rest of Malaysia in that there is only a small community of Indians living in the state. Apart from that, Sarawak is divided into 11 divisions and of course one of them is my hometown Sibu.

There's some places that you can go and visit if you love hot weather and tropical rain forest !!

That's all for this time and I know it's bit stupid and boring! But ! Trust me, Sarawak is a place that worth you to go at least once and I believe you wont regret for that !

Next time i will try to introduce my lovely hometown Sibu, will try to introduce the food the places there ! Hope that I can write something more interesting next time ! Cheers

Stay Tune !!

Pray for Japan

As you probably aware, there was a huge earthquake happened in Japan (around 1455), recorded 8.8 magnitude (6th largest on earth since 1900). This has caused a huge tsunami (10m or 33 ft high wave) to hit the north east coast of Japan. Japan has declared a state of emergency on the country. When we heard about the news, our hearts sank with the people in Japan. We were terrified and devastated. Probably, we were still recovering from the shock of recent earthquake in Christchurch, NZ.

Japan has been one of the countries that missionaries have been actively involved in. At this point, it is still very hard to estimate the number of life loss and property damaged. But, looking at the devastating pictures on TV and internet, it was just shocking. Our committee (missions committee) urge everyone to pray for this country. If you are the chairperson of your fellowships, we hope that you can allocate a time to lead your fellowship in these prayers.

Let us, in one heart, pray for:

  1. Pray to our Lord to have mercy on us. Pray that He, the creator of all creations to spare us from this more powerful natural destruction. We are all His creations and beg Him that He will allow us to continue to live so that we can worship and praise Him;

  2. Pray to our Lord that He, the almighty God, will minimise the aftermath shake to minimum so that there will be less destruction after the first destructive wave; Also pray for the other countries in the Pacific rim ( including Taiwan, Russia, Hawaii, Philippines, Pacific islands etc.), be protected from the Tsunami too. There are a few small island countries which will be hit by tsunami between 10 pm and 2am;

  3. To pray for people in the affected areas (e.g Sandei). Pray that Lord will continue to protect the survivors, especially those who are trapped in the rubbles. Pray that God will protect them until aids come to them;

  4. Pray that more Christians will be awaken by this disaster. For a country like Japan, more than 95% are not Christians. And, there are many more these kind of countries on this earth. Pray that more Christians will have the urge and the heart to spread the gospel around so that more people will be saved by His gospel. Pray that Lord will call for more Christians who are willing to follow Him to become missionaries and be sent to these countries to carry out His commandment;

  5. Also pray for the missionaries in Japan. Pray that they and their families will be protected by our Lord from this disaster. Also pray for them so that they continue to have faith in our Lord even during this hard time;

  6. Last, but not the least, please pray that the people in Japan will repent and accept Jesus Christ as their saviour. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me."

Let us continue to uphold our faith during this turmoil period. Let us continue to keep each other in our prayers, especially for those who have not believe in God. May we aim to spread the good news of His Kingdom to every nations.

God bless you.

Melbourne

Been back to Melbourne for a week and yet I am not get used to the life back in here. The weather is different, it's getting colder and colder this few days.

Uni started and back to uni recently and found that both of the uni buildings are done and I am able to get into one of the building which named Advance Technology Center, it had a big lecture hall which had all the glasses around the lecture hall which means everyone is able to look into the lecture hall and see what the students doing in there ! Haven't got the chance to the new Student hub which heard it from someone that it's for the use of all those club and some student lounge in there! AND ! Something I hate most is that the Project Hub no longer only for final year students and it's open to you ! I keep waiting for this year to get the special sticker and now they said it's open to all ! Argh ! wont be having any special place to study now! It's going to be like a shit just like the library !

I think I am still having jet lag and yes ! i am quite suffering now as sometimes can't really sleep at night ! Oh no!!

Anyways ! That's all I want to say ! Bye Bye !

Well, this post was written on Airasia X D7 2722 flight to Melbourne on early morning of 28/02/2011.

Let’s talk about my 27/02/2011, it’s the officially last day of my stay in my hometown and honestly I am sad about it. Went to the church service early in the morning and almost late for that as I was awake the night before till 3 something. Seem like my mind my heart asks me not to sleep but appreciate the last moment the last night back in my own house.

Went back home for an hour sleep after the service and woke up by dad for breakfast together and went to aloha for the 2nd time on my trip back this time and ate the roti canai for the 1st time.. It doesn’t taste as good as before and lots of food having the same problem such as the egg kueh tiaw that used to be very nice at aloha, it’s tasteless now and lost the real taste of it. After that went back home and start to do the final packing and Thanks Mum and Dad to help me seal the both check in boxes and I pack my own hand luggage which all are my clothing and my backpack with my lovely lappy with 小璐璐.  Dad keep remind me to double check if I left anything at home as there won’t be the same as my previous Kuching trip that dad helped me to bring back some sort of small things like my Bluetooth earphone, my clothes and so on. Thanks Dad for that...

After that bath time and Mum prepared the long life noodle and abalone chicken soup which always taken by those who will be going for a long trip, its Chinese tradition.  Honestly  I don’t like the feeling of having the long life noodle with chicken soup alone although I love the long life noodles and home cooked chicken soup especially by mum  as it indicates that I will be leaving for a long period of time and  I am sad for it.. I prefer having that with the family than alone…

After the sad lonely long life noodle with chicken soup, rest for a while and that’s the time going to airport, but before that, I went to the Apollo Kompia there planning to get some of the deep fried kompia for Kok Ing and whoever coming up to the airport. Met up with Jasper while going into the departure hall of Sibu airport, sitting at the last row of the plane and honestly it’s not the nice seat as the toilet is just behind me and I am able to hear the sound of flushing after everyone using it.

Arrived LCCT late evening around 530 and while I walked out from the arrival hall, I saw Kok Ing alone there waiting for me… At 1st I thought there will be someone else there but out of my expectation, all of them are not coming but she is still coming up alone with the bus! I am touched! Really touched with that! How good she is, she thought I will be alone there for 5 hours so she came up to keep me accompany. Thanks Kok Ing! We went to old town kopitiam with Jasper and after that we spend rest of the time over Starbucks with a cup of coffee…  Time flies while there’s someone keep you accompany. This is the 2nd time I met with Kok Ing on my trip back this time. Just before I am going in the departure hall, Ah ma reached and we talked for a while before I went into the departure hall and this is the 1st time I saw ah ma this trip… Anyway, Thanks Kok Ing and Ah ma for coming up to meet up with me and keep me accompany, otherwise the time will pass as slow as the snail…

And now, I am sitting on the RM100 reserved hot seat and it’s bit better than the normal one as the space at the front is bigger but the seat is smaller due to the divider are used to place some something.. Having 2 aussie sitting beside me and they are friendly , they are nice… I spent some time talking with them during the meal time. And soon after 4 hours I will be on the land of Oz and uni start.. Back to the reality and gonna work hard on my studies and everything… Everything is going back to normal..

Had a special experience during the flight, saw the lightning just happening in front of you during the take of time. Lightning show up quite often during the take off time and it's bit scary as you won't know if the lightning will strike on the plane or not, btw, Thanks God I arrived safetly...

Thanks all the friends for keep me accompany while I am back in Sibu and Kuching ! Appreciate it and hope to see you guys soon either when you guys coming over to Melbourne or when I got the chance to go back there..  Especially Kok Ing and Ah ma for coming up purposely to keep me accompany.. Kok Ing, next time we have to meet more in order to talk and kepo.. Haha.. The time is too short this time and hoping to talk with you soon.. Recall back, last year they are the one who sent me off as well! haha..

A big THANKS to my parents too !
